Alice takes her Penguin to visit Wonderland
Once again let’s be inspired by the creativity of England’s finest web campaigns. Penguin the renowned publishing house founded in 1935 launched a new advergame and it’s conveniently called “We tell stories“.
The principle is simple really. One writer and one designer are teamed up to create a story that can be followed on a Google Map. There are 6 teams and 6 weeks (one story p/ week). Each team has to follow up the story cooked up the previous week. The full story and the map creates clues for a 7th story, centered around a mysterious girl called Alice. If you participate in the game you can win up to £13,000 worth of Penguin Books (sadly only opened to UK residents… damn !).
The first story starts at St Pancras station, well-known by any French tourist who took the Eurostar in the last four months. This first installment is called The 21 steps and written by Charles Cumming.
Last year, Penguin, which definitely is a very innovative publishing house concerning digital matters, created a Wiki-Novel called A Million Penguins. A Million Penguins was highly successful with more than 277,504 visits. You can read the Novel online. Furthermore you can become a PenguinTaster and download for free the first chapter of every latest novel for free.
